Since the day hike I've been home tending to my stitching. The panoramas are at Pans-2006-10-10. And my regular photos are at <a href="http://dbdimages.smugmug.com/gallery/1998774"target=_new>Images-2006-10-10.

It was a fine day. Kurt has fine stories, but John's are better. Thanks guys.

The Baldy group climb was a fun day.

As the report by Tomcat_RC states, conditions are changing daily.

We had about three inches of new snow from about Trailside Meadow up, drifts to about one foot in places.

The snow had melted out from a ways below the cables, down, by the time we were descending.

We had crampons, but didn't feel the need to use them.

An axe would have been dead weight (unless you use it as a walking stick). Under the conditions we encountered, a slip and fall was not an option.

The snow on top of the "ice bulge" made it easier to cross. Make use of the cables - nobody will hold it against you if you hold on while you descend.

Kurt's Tarzana presentation was excellent!

had a blast at the Tarzana show last nite. I particularly enjoyed finally meeting Chris, and breaking tortilla with him, Kurt and Richard. What a fun group of people!

Hi Guys! It was great hiking the Mt Baldy trip with all of you last Tuesday. I finally got to put some faces with the screen names I see on the Board. Seeing the Big Horn Sheep was exciting, and I hope to hike with you all again, on another fun adventure. Congrats Chris on the Mt Whitney Summit. Hike Safe! Scott.

Kurt's slideshow was awesome. I wish Marisa had been able to see it too..because I *know* she would have dug it. The format of the presentation was great..music..beautiful pictures..and great narration by Kurt. The Mt. Kenya portion was a nice bonus too..and the section on the post-climb safari was outstanding. It isn't just a slide-show about what you'll see either..it is about the process that SMI goes through to make your trip a memorable one. Kurt has secured a sure customer here...without a doubt. Thanks for the great show.

Great to meet some of the other board regulars as well...it was a pleasure meeting you all...

Regards..
Chris

Hello - I've been swamped since I got back from Kilimanjaro (a beautiful, snowy, 9/29/2006 summit - 9/28/2006 in California time) - followed by a Safari in the Ngorongoro Crater. I realize that I'm just a lowly Northern Californian, but in the interest of fairness, democracy, and mom's apple pie, I think it would not be out of line to plan another hike. Telescope Peak? I'll have a link to pics soon. Tony

If you guys do Telescope give me a shout..I'd be VERY interested in that one. Don't know if I have the time off..but I can squeeze in a trip at the drop of a hat usually. I was actually eyeing a winter trip up Telescope maybe late this year or early next year.. smile Although I want to do it from Shorty's Well..not Mahogany Flat..so that might not be what you all are looking at..

Congrats on the Kili summit Tony! Looking forward to photos..!

Chris
