I go into the mountains as often as anyone, and have done so for a long, long, time. I have encountered a handful of hunters when out for a climb—perhaps a dozen in well over 50 years—but they have all been on approach roads, such as the road to Onion Valley. Maybe there have been one or two on the trails, but I can’t recall any at the moment. Of course, there may have been some in camo.
Obviously, there are hunters out there, but my experience says they don’t hunt where I climb. So I don’t give it a second thought.
