Hey, I'm thinking about running across the Grand Canyon and back in October. Since everyone here seems to be very capable outdoorsmen, I was hoping I could find someone who has run it before.

Also, if there's a website for it, I haven't been able to find it. Any help?

Checkout www.hikearizona.com the trails you would want to use will be S. Kaibab and N. Kiabab.

If you have any questions I'm sure anyone there can answer them. The north Rim closes/stops having services up there after the 2nd weekend in October.

I'm not a trail runner but have done Rim-Rim crossings 4 times and another 4 or 5 rim to river hikes.

I did a Rim-Rim-Rim fastpack last spring. It was more backpacking than running but I did run part of it. I used South Kaibab/North Kaibab/Bright Angel trails. I had to posthole through snow the last 2 miles to the North Rim but that shouldn't be an issue in October.

We have a group going on the weekend of October 14-15. This will be my 13th grand canyon run. I will be crossing South to North on Saturday and North to South on Sunday. In the past we have had several do Rim to Rim to Rim,but not this year. The advantage of doing a two day is if you start early and move you avoid the heat. The return even in October can be hot 90-100 degrees in not unheard of,figure the same temperature as Phoenix.

we will go out kaibab south to north then return north kaibab to Bright Angel. Bright Angel has several water stops unlike the south Kaibab which is also exposed. RR
