Weather you are a 1st Timers or a Seasoned Hiker I found this message board a wealth of information & very helpful for my hike.
I trained on all of the SoCal peaks (San Jacinto, Baldy, San Gorgonio, etc..) and it really helped with the altitude. The info I gleamed off 395.com filled in ALL of the missing elements I needed for a successful summit. On Wednesday my buddy and I started at 4am - summit by 11:30. I had made Mt. Whitney a personal goal and worked at it everyday for 100 days (ran, read books, surfed www.395.com & shopped at REI). When I finally hit the top ... moisture oozed from the corners of my eyes (aka tears of joy). If I can ever help someone achieve a successful summit attempt - consider me a resource and feel free to contact me at genevacapital@socal.rr.com. Good Hiking To You All! Tracy

This board has also helped me. The information helped me to decide which motel to stay at and which restaurant to eat at. It also gave me the weather and mosquito conditions, etc. so that I could better plan my trip. It is a real ***el. We should all be thankful for it.

One of words from my post was edited out so I will find another one to replace it with. This board is a real gem on the Internet and we should all be thankful.

"gem"

The quirky censorship on this board is part of its charm.
