Does anyone have an internet location where I can download the Mt. Whitney main trail to a Garmin GPS? Thanks.

Wayne Pyle loaded the coordinates of the 97 switchbacks into an Excel spreadsheet and posted the data at <A href="http://www.ridgenet.net/~rockwell/Climbing/WaynePyle97Switchbacks.xls">97 Switchbacks</A>.

National Geographic has an excellent software program that allows you to not only download the waypoints you desire, but allows you to develope elevation profiles, label your waypoints with names, and a list of features too long to list. They are USGS maps that can also be printed so that you have a back-up in case your GPS fails or does not receive a signal.The maps are so detailed that 10 CDs are in the pack just to cover California.

And if you have the National Geographic software that spiderman mentioned, you can download the map data files for Whitney from their MapXchange web site (http://maps.nationalgeographic.com/topo/search.cfm).
