A few of us are planning on going up on Saturday 4th June - day trip. We'd like to be prepared and exercise necessary caution.

If anyone has been up recently, can you comment on the conditions? Specifically:

a) Would you recommend snowshoes? I'd like to avoid the weight if possible, but will carry them if it makes for quicker progress. How soft / deep does the snow get? How much postholing is involved?

b) Any sections which definitely require roping-up / belay? If so, what is the best protection to carry - ice screws or rock gear? Again, I'll probably take a lightweight rope along, but would like to optimze on the pro.

c) Any suggestions about the trail and route-finding will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
