There seems genuine reason for all us first timers to be concerned with likely snow/ice conditions on main trail on into July. third week (mine group) even sounds iffy. All that said, would some of you veterans lend insight (assume for your replies "normal" July conditions) into descriptions for proximate locations for water along the main trail. I see replies on this advising to "look at your map", and while I have the Tom Harrison Whitney Trail version, I don't see spots shown for watering stops. Topo lines and streams are quite small, so input from those who know would be very welcome. Thanks all.

Hi Bob R Posted the normal water sources about a week ago on this board , also your map will show how many times the main trail crosses water(streams) and these are the major supply , this year snow pack will last well into summer and that will be another source near the summit. Thanks Doug
I found the post is was March 3 2005 shows map and locations of water "Bob R" water locations on the main trail

There is a reason people say look at your maps and it's not just for water sources. It's to make sure you have a safe trip, especially if this is your first season hiking.

I don't like the Harrison Maps. The map Doug has at the store is ideal for the novice taking this trip. It is 1:24,000, compact with shaded relief. However, if you want something now pick up the Mts. Langley and Whitney USGS Quads. Most of the people I have helped getting "found" in the mountains seemed to be utilizing Harrison Maps, this could be just my experience.

The water sources you need to know about are at Trailside Meadow and Trail Camp.

Another novice here. How can I get the map wbtravis5152 mentions that Doug has at the store? It's not listed on the Online Store site.
