I purchased a pair of the Wal*Mart poles when I was in Ridgecrest two weeks ago. The are made by the company that make the Swiss Army Knife.
The one drawback to them is that they are the heaviest pair of trekking poles I've ever used.
A few of the good things about them: they are three-section poles, so they fold up nicely, they didn't seem to bend when I leaned on them (I'm very hard on equipment) and the "baskets" are screw on, so it is very easy to remove and replace them. (I like using a pole in addition to an axe when I'm climbing steep snow slopes. Having the ability to easily remove the basket and adjust the length for use on these slopes is very cool feature!)
