Does anyone know the current conditions of the road to the Portal?

Not much has been said lately except there is snow at the portal and the road is apparently closed at the bottom of the large switchback (5-6 miles from the trailhead). This was reported by Jleicht on a post October 27th.

The Horseshoe meadows road is reported closed also because of rockslides on the road.

Did anyone go up to the portal this weekend? I know the road is usually closed in Winter. However, I know it is possible to drive past the sign. Does anyone know how far up the road one could get?

The road is always closed this time of year, but the sign is off to the right and does not really "close" access to the road.

I drove all the way up to the portal on Saturday the 6th, and back down on Sunday the 7th, the road was spotless and could be driven by any car.
