Hi everyone,

I went to a seminar just this past week about Whitney at Adventure 16. I found out from the speaker that you can camp at Consultation lake and that it is much nicer than Trail camp. Their is much less people and marmots, but I have my camp all ready setup on my permit as Trail camp. I was wondering that even if I have to camp at Trail camp could you still camp at Consultation lake? Plus, if you can camp there what is the easiest way to get their from the main trail. I looked over the topo and think the easiest way to Consultation is following the stream that runs down from it. Any reply is much appreciated. Thanks, Matt.

Once you on are the trail you can stay where you want, as long as it is a place you can camp. Even though you may have placed trail camp on the paper they don't make you stay there. Consultation lake is just a little out of the way. It is probably nicer, quieter and more remote. I am sure the water tastes a lot better there then at trail camp. I am sure the guy from Adventure 16 is correct about camping there.

From the trail consulatation is easy to find and no problem. We were hiking past there on the way to the Northeast chute going up to Mt. Irvine. From what I remember, the lake is big and easy to locate off to the left.

Thanks,

That's what I figured would be the answer to my question. Matt.
