Channel surfing. Came up to MaxE. The movie "Tremors" (1990) with Kevin Bacon. Lo and behold, there was the switchback road up to Horseshoe Meadow, Lone Pine Peak, the Needles, Whitney and the Alabama Hills. Gotta rent that movie and put it on "pause" to see the Sierra. The heck with the rest of the movie!

Recently I was channel surfing and lit upon the "Hallmark Channel" and immediately saw some buildings in LP so stayed on it. It is a truly terrible TV movie called "What I did for love" with noone of note in it except the guy who played the gruff old manager in Major League and Sally Struthers. But, the entire thing is filmed in LP and the Alabama Hills - which they call, fitingly, the Alabama Hills. Lone Pine, on the other hand, is called Pine Gap - go figure. The funniest thing about it is one of the guys gets lost in the Hills and can't find town. Can't see where that could even be possible. Hey, there's Whitney, town must be the other way...
