Shot from Iceberg lake this past Sunday at dawn. Thanks to everyone for helping out with my newbie questions regarding the Mountaineer's Route.

Here's a few more from along the way:

Very nice pics. Looks like there isn't much snow left. Were crampons and/or ice axe at all necessary?

No ice equipment needed. Everything was clear.

I'm considering doing this route as well - any tips for a fellow newbie? I do have a lot of 14'er experience, but I've only done the main trail on Whitney.

I thought it was pretty straight forward. We lost the trail a few times, but it's hard to get truly lost when you're essentially hiking up a bowling alley gutter from parking lot to peak. smile

I had a bout with altitude sickness and had to call off our Russell bid, so my advice is to stage from UBSL instead of Iceberg at 13k if you think you might have issues. I still have the echo of the pounding headache!!

Ouch! I've experienced that headache and it's not fun. I can usually avoid it if I'm hydrated I usually get it when I'm staying with a friend in Vail, CO at 8700 feet, and enjoying too much of the great California wines that I bring with me and not enough of what we call "Tahoe Champagne" (aka water) before climbs.

How long did it take you to do?

From Iceberg to peak and back down it took 4 hours.

Great shots! Are they digital or film? Can you give me a few specifics, such as length of exposure, aperture, filters, etc.? Always looking for a few shots for the wall in the den!
