Barcroft Lab is going to be open to the public on Aug 1. The gate at the trailhead will be open and you can drive all the way up to the front door. They will have information and refreshments and other activities. Go to their website at
www.wmrs.edu This is a great opportunity to explore the trail if you've never been there, and cut off about 2 1/2 miles of the trail by driving to the lab. 4WD not needed, but drive slow, sharp rocky washboard road and don't wash your car before you go! Approx. 18 1/2 miles of dirt road from Schulman Grove.
I will be taking my 82 yr old mother who would never be able to walk up to 12,500 feet. I've been in the big quanset hut before and I'd pay them to let me spend the summer there.
