Sorry to take up space on this board about another Mountain, but can't seem to get any info anyplace else, and the Whitney climbers seem to know more than the average bear. planning on hiking up Dana at Tioga Pass the 8th of June. I'll be taking two rather inexperienced mountianeers and one totally unfamiliar with crampons, axes etc. as well as an experienced climber. Any beta? Snow conditions above the saddle? Kick steps? Crampons? Rope? Any info/suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Call Tioga Pass Resort 209.372.4471 (great food - by the way). An employee there just did Dana - I overheard part of a conversation last Saturday (5/29); I think he said he went up without crampons and skied down a couloir. Conness at 12,590 (on the other side of the road) looked reasonably accessible - but some cornices are ready to go, and some ice sheets ready to break lose.
