Planning to go over NAP June 5th. Has anyone been over NAP this season and if so can you let me know what the snow conditions on both sides of the pass are like? Thanks Buster

I went over New Army Pass over Memorial Day (edited) weekend. The actuall trail has a large cornace over it at the top of the pass. We were able to go around most of the snow and the cornace off to the left. This required some 3rd class climbing. On the back side of the pass there is probably 30%? snow coverage, so the snow was easy to work around. I would recomend ice axe and crampons for NAP, though we made it with only ice axes. I have some pics up at http://68.7.23.246:8081/pixory/pxapplication;JSESSIONID=ueajz1gjdceg?service=external/AlbumIndex&sp=S402881e4fcecd65200fcecd652cc0000

Nice pics, Alon. You did mean Memorial weekend, rather than Labor Day?

Wayne,

Thanks, yes, that would be Memorial Weekend, not Labor Day. It is unfortunate that I must go out with the masses on holiday weekends frown

Nice pics Alon, I was wondering where you had camped at and were able to have a campfire in that area. I know there are some campfire restictions in that area, but always enjoy a campfire if it is possible.

Thanks

We camped at a lake just outside the wildnerness, so fires were permitted.
