Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board MR June 5-6

I'd like to climb the MR while it is still a snow climb. If anyone has an open spot on their permit I'd like to join you. Based on a previous post it seems unlikely to show up Sat. morning and get a permit for that night. I am considering a one day climb of the MR Sunday if no permits are available. If your interested let me know (ice axe and crampon climbing, no rope).

You don't need a permit for a day hike on the North Fork. Seems strange b/c you are still impacting the area.

Bill - I do have an opening on my permit for June 4-6. There are four of us headed out Friday morning around 7 AM and our plan is to set up at UBSL and do Thor in the afternoon. Saturday we will do Whitney via MR and some are going to trek down and do Muir. On Sunday we will be doing Russell and then hiking out. If interested e-mail me.
