Great pics, Sparky! Very helpful as well. As much as I'd like to try Kashcraft's route for avoiding the worst of the sand hill, based on what you, hikern8 and others have said, I think we'll push on to camp at the base of the sand hill by Upper Crabtree Lake. That way we can climb the sand hill and summit with just day packs and have the option to push on to Sky Blue Lake on the way back if time and energy permit. Only three more days until we leave and am I excited! Thanks to everyone on this board, I feel infinitely more prepared than I ever could have otherwise. Look for a trip report and pics next week!

hey, looks like you have conceded the bet; my recollection was that the wager was whether you could summit and return in a day from Sky Blue Lake.



Hard to do that starting, from Upper Crabtree Lake.
