In my opinion, the new poop kits are worthless for carrying it out yourself. They make sense if the FS is going to provide a "privacy area" and a can to drop them off at (like Rainier). I grabbed a couple for the trip up Taboose, but resorted to digging holes after I opened the first kit.
I want the old kits back (they worked like powergui described).
