San Gorgonio is in the San Bernardino Mountains, roughly 100 miles east of "The Valley."

The mountain still has a fair amount of snow on it. There are several routes. The most popular day hike is the Vivian Creek Trail, around 9 miles one way. It is definitely do-able by a person in good shape. People have also died on it -- it's wilderness. If you go on a weekend in June or later, it is likely to be free of snow and there should be plenty of people around.

Here is a link to an overnite trip of San Gorgonio some friends did over Ap3-4, via South Fork/Dry lake, with pictures and participant comments:

That looks like a great hike up San Gorgonio. Thanks for posting the pics. I was wondering if you, or anyone else, can give any more info about the route you took. I have been up vivian creek way but this way looks more interesting. I might be up for a late sat. start next weekend. I just did the mountaineers route on whitney last weekend and need to get some major training if I ever expect to make the top of rainier let alone denali.
