A digital camera will render a picture with a "best fit" white balance. If a scene is dominated by a single color, then the camera can be fooled. Scenes in the shade or on cloudly days have a preponderance of natural blue light. Pictures made under such circumstances tend to come out bluish. If the camera has a scene seletion like "shade" or "cloudy", that should help. High end cameras have a manual white balance feature. You point the camera at something known to be white, like a sheet of paper or snow, and push a button. The camera will force its color compensation to render the item white and save the result for the next shot.

Nice 4runner Snow Nymph. Is it a 4X4, because mine is and it rocks. Right now I've been playing in the snow with mine. Nice Website.

So if it's a simple matter of white balance, can something like photoshop be used to adjust the picture after the fact? (I know, I need to RTFM for both the camera and photoshop, but most times it just easier to ask.)

I'm not a Photoshop user, but I have a picture viewing package called Compupic sold by Photodex (www.photodex.com). It has controls that allow you to alter the color saturation, overall hue, and individual red, green, and blue. I would think that Photoshop is similar. If the imbalance is not too extreme, such programs can correct it.
