Quick update both stores are closed now , Hostel was closed to help the local area with travelers coming into the Eastside and protecting the crew.

We are still taking online reservations for summer ,but I would not expect this virus to be gone or safe to travel until mid to late May OR later and as of now the local campgrounds are closed dayuse areas are closed and Both Inyo and Mono Counties are asking that you please restrict your travel into the area .

Check the County websites for updates and news releases they are about every few hours the last week and all the Climbing sites are now helping to suggest climbers to not come also.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to grow miner's lettuce on my deck.

Norma found some last week,I didn't have the heart to tell her it was Nettles .

I've actually been snacking on it on the trails for the last month or so---I'm sure that's the only reason I haven't had any symptoms.

Speaking of stoned (or not), I picked some fresh catnip that grows everywhere here (Nepeta cataria) for Sher's cats who have only ever had the old, dried out stuff. Well, let's just say it was waaaaaaaaay too strong and only made them hiss, attack everyone and fight the furniture. Not what anyone was expecting.

So yes, of course, I wrote my congressman first thing this morning---we really need to regulate this stuff...

On another note every few years we will have a hiker come in and ask why am I itching and turning red, last summer we had a young man with a reaction that was very serious , most likely from Nettles , I looked online to see if in fact it could be and was alarmed to find it can be fatal.

Sumac now out of all the strange ractions I get a very weak reaction to Sumac. Once from the Century Plant not a rash or itching but like I had taken a controlled substance and had to leave the area. We were clearing a survey line and needed to cut a line through the plant as they grow wild over most of the foothills in Southern California. Ok it's coming back now Hollywood Hills where all the Power lines cross the 101 Freeway just before Barham where the Helicopter ran into one of the lines and now they put red balls on the lines and one day the pilots we flew with said look we put these things on front of the helicopters to cut the wires, yup like the seat belts as we reach terminal velocity before impact will help.Don't complain you have insurance , wait you are crew you don't have insurance. It' s that Century Plant again!
