We are working with the BLM to finish the last section of the Alabama Hills Trail, we think this may be a project for National Trails Day June 2,

My thoughts are we have at least 3 options
1 .If ready do the Trail Work and the Hero's hike the next day.

2 .Do the Hero's Hike , meet as normal with several options since it may be very hot with the 8-9 AM start opt. A: ride the chair up to thelodge hang out or hike opt. B: just hang in the meeting area opt. C: do the hike as normal. opt. D: sign up, do the pledge and do the solo hike up the Ski hut Trail 6 AM start.

I need your help planning this year Thanks

Is the date for National Trails day set in stone? Any flexibility? Early May would be very nice in the Hills if that's possible.

However, whether Trails day can be moved or not the Heroes hike should be as simple as possible. We all show up, have coffee, great breakfast, share some laughs then hike or hang out.

I can create a WPSMB team and anyone who wants to join can join but anyone who signs up as an individual can always be part of the WPSMB team. Easy peasy.

Doug, you've done a lot for the Heroes hikes and Trails days and so many other things. Please let me know what else I/we can do to help out with both Trails day and Heroes.

If James can help me contact all the other National Trails Day projects across the country (only a couple thousand), I think we have a good shot at getting everyone to agree to change the date...

Jeff,

I did not know there were that many other projects across the country. And that they were all interconnected, etc. etc. So that's out.

But simplicity likely best course of action for the Heroes hike. No fuss, no expenditures other than the donation. This way there is nothing to coordinate. We'll all meet in the parking lot or at the food area like we always do. Will be a great day and we will all have fun!

On Saturday is the meetup for the Trail Days work at Movie Road/Portal Road intersection? Time? And it goes to sometime in the afternoon? Thinking of coming up Friday night for Trail Days then head back down Saturday night for Heroes.

THERE IS NOW A WPSMB HIKE FOR HEROES GROUP. To join, go to the website registration page and choose the Join a Group option and select WPSMB. Link is below:

It's been a long time since a WPSMB get together in LP. While a one day jaunt to LP may work for some, it doesn't work for others of us who travel from afar. So, separate from any national woop-de-doo, I'm putting it out there, whether Memorial Day Weekend, or some other weekend that can be extended.

Also, Jeff, please edit out identifying information. Some of use handles on public boards for a reason. Thanks for understanding

Kinda traditional that NTD thing , first year I think we were one of the two events in California, My brother came out from Arkansas ( he built trails and later became a Fireman, EMT, First Responder ,Trainer and helped many small towns in rural Arkansas with many different programs).

Thanks James for starting the group , Each year I have trouble even getting back on once it is started and never have I been registered for the event.JJ always spots me in the reject line and says he's ok just give him the paper!

OK so another kink if you want to pledge money and add another person if it has not changed You can only use your email address for you , so donating more you need to have a unique email address If anyone knows a trick please post.

My plans are I will ride up with Tim in the side by side or is it take the chairlift . 8-9 AM Start if we have heat , we should go slow until the upper elevation and we will do fine.

Better than the day we marched across the opening of the Vincent Thomas Bridge, staging was in front of a liquor store and they sold fine wines , Ripple, Strawberry Hill and other vintage selections,It got hot, very hot and the bridge is very long if you and your fellow countrymen are drunk. The last march we had to do! Back to the Climb, these have been great events and each year many more people sign up , the first year I think we raised about the third highest amount and helped set a pattern. Lets see if we can get a strong showing again this year. Thanks to everyone that has made it to the events and we have a solid core now that do it every year. See you on Baldy!

We have Alabama Hills day coming up,the first Saturday of April .April 7 , a very low key event this year, so we could plan a Whitney Group Hike/pot luck for that weekend ???

Make sure you bring your green pack and sun screen, it could be (and will be) hot.

It will be great weather, probably a little June fog in the morning and clear and blue skies up higher. Shorts, t-shirts and a jacket and snacks just in case (is that slogan trademarked Doug?). This is always a very social, fun hike so shouldn't get too warm. Will be great as always!
