A little new snow over the last few days on the upper elevation , Portal had a few drops of rain temp during the day 45-50,

A system may pass through Monday-Tuesday with the chance of snow and wind. This system looks large and could drift . I would hold off a few days before going up and see what the system brings.

I recall I drove over Tioga Pass in January of 2012, I think on the 14th. Bare ground. It was cold, just dry. Even the mountains above Tioga Pass which go 13K were bare except for the same snowfiled you'd see in August.
Then there was last year. But I know it could come on hard and lock in up there. I guess the big rain down south missed the Portal area?

Went to the Portal yesterday ,storm on Monday/Tuesday put a few more inches on the area over a base of ice . The warm days now are starting the normal melt freeze cycle ,so if we get a strong system we could have slides.

17 feet of wind last night! 395 closed this AM Hwy 203 north, blowing snow and wind to last until Saturday afternoon???
Bishop south mountains might be getting a little snow but the Valley is just wind, gusts from all directions , about 55 degrees in Lone Pine at 10:AM.

Same camera , different zoom setting.
