Snow on the summit yesterday, cold air mass moved in so bring a jacket.

Road work ? No paving but installing guardrails up and down the road so some delays but not long. Time is running out on paving the upper section as we are nearing the colder days and nights. My guess is about 3 weeks.

Parking lots on the top row at the trail head EMPTY last night so the downturn has started , still seeing many come down from the long trails .

Dark in the Portal by 7:45 PM and sun up about 5:30 means you will have some night hiking from now on and with the colder temps WATCH FOR Black ICE.

Smoke drifts in and out of the area, will make it a harder hike on the trail.

I can relate to the fact that all ice matters! Back in February when there were many injuries up at Baldy, I was one of them. I slipped on some ice, slid down a slope, hit a tree and broke 5-6 ribs, collapsed a lung and had to be airlifted out. I'm back hiking now, but I can attest that all ice matters! Heck, I even slipped on black ice at the parking lot at Manker.

Be safe up there!

Good to see you're back in action Randy! Maybe I'll see you up on Baldy over the next two weeks. Going for summit #30 this weekend on Bear Flat trail.
