Can anyone help me out with an online map of the George Creek closure area? According to USFS the official lines are on USFS wilderness map: "A Guide to the John Muir Wilderness and Sequoia-Kings Canyon Wilderness." It sounds like the western limit is down from the crest.

I'm looking at climbing Barnard from the south, dropping east of the crest to around 13,000', then heading north to Lake Helen of Troy (per Secor, page 82). Is that in or out of the closed area for early July?

Thanks,
Jim

If you have NG Topo, the boundary is available on it. If you don't, let me know and I can pull it up when I get home tomorrow evening and send it to you.

(I was looking at it a couple of summer ago in regard to heading down to the lake (tarn) below the start of the East Ridge of Carl Heller. From what I could see on the map, I would have not entered the closure zone.)

Kathy-
Thanks, that's what I needed. Route under consideration is well clear of the closure.
