Just got back from a climb of Baldy via Bear Canyon Trail (whew). Above 9000' there is a ton of snow and numerous slopes for good practice.
That's a real long tiring walk for practicing.
As I said, the places to practice are few, at high elevation, on north slopes and fewer every week.
One of my rules for glissading, and practicing, if you don't walk up it you shouldn't slide down it. If I remember the upper part of the Bear Creek Trail, you would have practice or glissade below it; therefore, you will be practicing in a place with unknown conditions. This can be dangerous, especially to those with rented equipment and non-existent skills.
