Has anybody used these?

I'm going up in June and I was planning on renting crampons. Then my buddy got these on steepandcheap.com for $65. I was paying $45 for the three days on Whitney, not to mention the rental to practice/learn beforehand. I watched the site for the last two days and just got the ten point ones today, same price!!

Can't find any reviews online.

Thanks,
John

I bought a pair of CAMP USA Stalker Universal crampons from REI a few weeks ago. Haven't used them very much, but so far I've been pleased. They've stayed tightly secured to my boots and given good traction on snowy slopes.

If they fit your boot, it should be fine. Are they aluminum btw? That's one thing I like to avoid; they need resharpening quite often if you deal with mixed rock/snow.

Hey Luciano,

They are steel. I ordered them Wed and I'm getting them tomorrow!! I'll get to try them out on Baldy Saturday!

I have a pair of aluminum for times when I know I won't be on any rock. I love them, they are the lightest available, and are very secure.

I have nothing against aluminum but more often than not, there's always some rock I end up dealing with. The weight difference between steel and aluminum is just too small for me to bother. I guess it just depends on your usage.

As much as I am required to carry, weight counts. It's worth it for me to replace them every few years if I need to.
