Join Friends of the Inyo in celebrating International Migratory Bird Day on a soaring, high-altitude hike in the White Mountains on Saturday, May 8!

This strenuous and stunning trek leads from the bristlecone pines to the dark defile of Black Canyon. Meet at the Schulman Grove Visitors Center (off Highway 168) at 8AM or at the corner of Highways 395 and 168, just north of Big Pine, at 7AM. No dogs, please. Email paulmc@friendsoftheinyo.org for more information.

A truly amazing hike if you can make it. The rock formations, as you drop from the rolling hills of the top and into the crumbling canyons are stunning, especially the blackened rock from which I'm sure the name is derived.

Have a great time!
