as The Story goes...

while many friends were challenging themselves with the MR last weekend there were 5 hearty souls pounding the snow up the Meysan Lake Trail to Mount Le Conte. i was the guest of Bob Huey and joined by Bill Stratton, Dan Bishop (all members of China Lake Mountain Rescue Group CLMRG) and Dave G. it was a great snow camp and a successful summit. i took photos of the Whitney summit at 1:15pm hoping to catch some of you up there. i could not see anyone when i zoomed in and next day at the WP Hostel found out, those that summited were off by 1:15. what beautiful weather we all had for a great weekend in the mountains!

Dave G posted a TR on the San Gabriel board with links to our photos. it can all be found here:

Congratulations Norma, Dave and company! That is a spectacular climb, snow, rock, steep pow, got it all. Way to go!

BTW, we waved from Whitney but did not get a wave back so assumed you guys had already left the summit.

What a fantastic climb! Stellar. Definitely the 'dream team'... You guys rocked it! Glad the weather and conditions were so good though you did get some deep snow. Hope your back is ok from the infamous post hole. Interesting that I had a similar posthole experience up here; thankfully my knee came out unscathed. smile I view postholing as an added bonus (good workout) although on the long, steep climbs not so good. wink Great pix from you and Dave G!!! And I see you are sporting the Snow Nymph arm warmers...
