been enjoying the repartee and gorgeous photos of all involved on this site ..
gathering beta on a ski tour i'm gonna do may4-11ish. planning to go up thru Cleaver Col , ski across Tulainyo Lake . camp near Wallace Lake , climb ski S slopes of Barnard and/or N slot of 13800ft+ pk .5 mile W of Russell , then move camp around the corner to Guitar/Arctic Lake area for 5 or so days and ski shots on surrounding faces/couloirs. in 2005, did a ski tour that took me over University Col, over Shepherd Pass, across Bighorn Plateau around and up Whitney Creek and got my first look at west slopes of Whitney. a bunch of elegant-looking couloirs looked filled in and skiable top to bottom that first week of May (a similar snow year to this one).

So the main event of my trip is to ski 1 or 2 of these W couloirs on Whitney, the central West couloir on Muir and N Face of Whitney. Consolation prizes will be Hale and Young S faces.

I've scoured the internet and WPSMB user pics for relevant pics and info. I'm wondering if anyone's heard of Whitney or Muir west slopes being skied cuz it looks like they go (if skier picks the right line avoiding getting cliffed out. Would love to see pics if available.
If anyone happens to be back there round May 4-11 and u see a guy w silver hair in his 40s lugging G3 telemark skis around getting sunburned pls say hello.

Hungry to get outta dodge and experience the one thing that still truly is awesome: Mother Nature in the High Sierra.
