This year is the 100 year anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. To mark the event, a number of scout troops are planning to do backpacking trips that end on Whitney, from all of the entry points on the east and west side. So don't be surprised if you run into a few scouts on Whitney this summer.
I will be going with a troop from Onion Valley the first week of August (along with another forumite, Iseebergy).
