It makes you wonder if he keeps pursuing mountaineering the way he has, where will he be 20 years from now?

Great talent. I could only dream of climbing Mount Rainier.

More locally, in 2007 Southern California teenager Samantha Larson completed the 7 Summits just prior to beginning her freshman year at Stanford. She climbed each of the summits with her father, a Long Beach anesthesiologist.

Anyone have info on the teenage boy from Big Bear Lake who was
also attempting the 7 Summits? Think he was younger than the
17 year old boy and the 18 year old girl who are mentioned here.

Kurt Wedberg and I ran into Samantha Larson and her dad on Mt Baldy a year or two ago. I think she had just finished the 7 Summits and was headed off to Stanford.

The kid from Big Bear is Jordon Romero. He is 13 and here is a link to his web site.

Just curious - what would be the total cost of completing the 7 summits?

Hi kswitzer,

Of course, there are many variables. But one might conjecture that the cost related to climbing the Seven Summits is roughly approximated by the cost of staying in a hospital a couple of weeks (perhaps with an illness secondary to Obesity or Disuse Syndrome).

Wish I had that kind of dough, that can't be a cheap endeavor.

Still an impressive accomplishment

I met Samantha and her father Dr. David Larson on March 7th 2009 at Mt. Baldy.
We climbed together the Bowl. I followed David on Schitzo alley, the main section of BOWL,to the summit. It was the most exiting climb ever at Mt. Baldy. I won't do it again.

I met them two months before they did Mt. Everest at Ski hut 2007?.
They went up the BOWL like nothing in very unstable weather.

They are very nice people. One of my best memory there on Mt. Baldy.

This was on the board a while back so I thought it would be appropriate to post an update. Jordan is currently back at the North Col (Camp 1) and weather permitting they plan a summit bid Sunday, May 23. If he summits he will be the youngest (13) to ever summit Everest.

I completly forgot that I saw a story a couple of weeks ago when they started. Due to post surgical funk i was in I forgot to update this.

I'll be happy to just climb any mountain this year.
