We were rehearsing Handel's "Messiah" this afternoon and the Alto air struck me, "Oh thou that tellest good tidings to Zion, get thee up into the high mountain." (Isaiah 11:9)
To our Jewish friends, a Happy Hannukah. To those of us of various Christian faiths, a Merry Christmas. To all out there, whatever your beliefs may be, a Happy (civil) New Year.
Most of all, may we be thankful that we live in a country where each of us is free to practice (or not) our particular religion as we see fit and enjoy the freedom and security to travel "up into the high mountain" as often as we can.
