The diabetic hiker was transported by ambulance from Whitney Portal to Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine. Then from there he was flown out to a larger facility.

Blaze_whitney,
Do you know what time he made it back to portal?

We saw the guy and his two friends around 2 am on Sunday (8/31) morning at lone pike lake.

The search and rescue lady acommpanied by Doug were right behind us.

The hiker made it out between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. I was on my way out the door for work at 7:45 when I heard on the radio that the ambulance was needed at the airport to pick up the flight crew.
