Does anyone know what the road conditions are like at Horseshoe Meadow? Are they closed for the season? I would like to plan an early november trip assuming the weather from now on warms up and it doesn't snow again till then. Any input?

I'm looking at the road now from LP and the snow level is pretty far above it (Wanoga Peak looks melted off). Shouldn't have trouble getting there...

Moose,

Thank's for this info, I had asked this question in a differnet post yesterday, but did not get any answers. I'll be up tomorrow (Lone Pine), and will be riding up the road on Saturday. I hope there is a little snow on the sides of the road, but hopefully melted off the road itself.

Please post a trip report along with pics when you come back. I would appreciate it. Are you going into the cottonwood lakes btw??

No, not going into the Cottonwood, but we are cycling (bicycles) up the Horsehoe Meadow road.

Today (Friday 16th) we drove it to check conditions. All clear. "Road Closed" sign, but easy to get around. I'd say 2" of snow near roads end, but not on the pavement, only on sides / shadows of road. Photo of end of road - Oct 16, 2009

Tomorrow, the big ride up and down the hill. 6k feet of climbing in 21mi. Wish me luck.
