It is kind of quiet right now down here in the Oxnard-Ventura area with just a light mist. We had some drizzle last night and some rain this afternoon around 4-5 pm. Santa Barbara is supposed to get more of this storm tonight and there is not much covered hillside left there after three fires in the past year. Hopefully they will not get a lot of mud.

Just came back from the Southern Sierra, I was up in the Sherman Pass Road / Blackrock area on Mon. and Tue., day hiking and car camping. On Tue. morning the skies were clear at 2am, but just after 8am it started snowing steadily (7800'-8200'). Retreated downhill and hiked from Kennedy Meadows Road to near Haiwee Pass and it was a light steady rain about 2/3 of the day.

Typically mostly light spotty rain showers intermittently throughout the San Diego region over the last 24 hours, though the clouds have been cool to look at. Many people profess their love for the climate in this area: generally mild temperatures, lots of sun, little precipitation. I call this climate boring and rejoice on the rare occasions we actually get some rain or a thunderstorm. Have to head up north to the mountains when I can to experience some real seasonal changes.

100% chance of rain today here in Central Ohio, and "your" storm out there hasn't even arrived here yet. Cooler than normal for October; leaves are beginning to change; first day of sunny weather this week not until Sunday the 18th.

Welcome home, Moosie. smile

After numerous cloudbursts this morning, the sky has broken up to about 40% blue; a light, cooling breeze is all the wind, and a balmy 73 degrees to top it off. Bags are packed, spirits are high, and I can't wait to hit the road.

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

I made reservations 1 1/2 month ago for car camping on the beach north of Santa Barbara, started raining early Tuesday am and still had not stopped when I left this morning...the kids had their first experience with tent camping in the rain.

We need this in AZ!!!

Being born and raised in Northeast Ohio, and family all from New England, I couldn't agree with you more. I can't wait to get some MORE fall weather. Cool temps and changing leaves . . only in my dreams.

I'll never forget my first thanksgiving here in San Diego. I woke up wanting cold, cloudy maybe some wet snow and football and autumn season. I got a bunch of surfers heading to the beach to cook turkey in the sand after a surf. I still hate these winters . . . 14 yrs later.
