You can leave it home. The bugs are mostly gone until next spring.

No need for the extra weight. Now you can run up the mountain. I day hiked Mt. Whitney on Monday and spent Saturday and Sunday under the stars with no bugs! Enjoy your lighter pack.

Bugs time out; they have a specific lifecyle within each climate zone that once completed, they die. However, this is not before leaving behind the eggs that will hatch into another season of misery for hikers.
