Well now we are down to 1 month before the group hike.
After the hike will be a get together and pot luck surprise at the hostel.

A few notes:

Last year's went well - but I did notice a few things. Doug provided a few bbq's. Last year Doug and Moose did all(most) of the bbq'ing while everyone else was cleaning up and partying inside. Note for this year - if it requires cooking - plan on doing the cooking(Doug and Moose are not the cook fairies!).

The hostel has a microwave and a refrigerator. Dishes should simple and when possible pre-cooked requiring warming only.

I am not good at this type of party planning. Would anyone like to volunteer to help coordinate this(preferably 2 or 3 people). If you left it up to me we may all end up eating off the floor crazy

Drinks - remember to bring your own. Extra for sharing is nice - but do not rely on others to provide your sodas and beer. I would encourage the use of large ice chests and make sure and mark them on the outside. You would hate for someone to take your cooler home by mistake.

If someone has a projector we can set it up for pictures. Picture taking is strongly encouraged and it is fun to see all the pictures while we eat and party.

Clean up: Doug is nice enough to share his house with us. Let us be gracious guests. Cleanup goes well when everyone contributes. Not saying you have to scrub pots and pans. We all made the mess - let's all help clean up after.

I will probably marinade some chicken breasts for bbq

Thanks Mark -

Tri-tip or chocolate chip cookies - tough choice.

Both are good - I am sure as time gets closer we will see what others are bringing. Like the hiking list, will update food lists as well. Still hoping to get a volunteer to help with this part of the planning.

Thanks - Tom

Since I'm traveling from down in the 'hood the day before, I'll bring non-perishables:

Plates, utensils, napkins, plastic cups
BBQ Sauce/Catsup/Mustard/Relish/Salt & pepper

Question: How should we handle the fresh food? Don't want to leave a cooler with a slab of steak in my car.

I am assuming the hostel will be open early enough Saturday morning to drop off our coolers before the hike. Will get with Doug Sr. to verify this.

Trailbud and Ridgeline -
Hoping they will take over the planning for this.
I rely on the experience the brought from last year.

Hi Tom,
I'll run the planning. You let me know when you talk to Doug Sr.
about the drop off time. Also ask on the BBQ grill use (like last year).
As for the food list I'll update the orginal post I made up with the list and add who's bringing what.
If you need anything, let me know.
Take care.

FYI: I started a new thread for the food and supplies.

Hey trail bud,

I will also be able to help putting things together if you need. I get a little pushy so if I start just tell me to go away. I won’t take it personally, I know that I can be pushy (just ask SanDi Carole, I try to push her off mountains)

Anyway I will bring a really good chip dip with chips. I will also bring a bottle of Gray Goose with some mixers.

I think SanDi Carole and I plan to be up there on Wed night or Thursday morn, so we can help get the Hostel ready and do what Doug Sr. needs to have done. His wishes are our command..Ha

I also have a few coolers that I can bring up if needed but if someone is local that might be the best bet. We are coming from San Diego.

I am so looking forward to this. I have met a few and can’t wait to meet more of you..

As for those of us who are particularly pot-luck challenged, may I just contribute $25 to reimburse others for their efforts?
