Sadly the Moose has parted ways with the WPSMB. I know this first hand. She did not elaborate on why.

If this is true it's sad. It has been a real joy watching Laura develop from being pretty much a novice less than 4 years ago to a smart, strong, accomplished mountaineer. Her TRs were always interesting, informative, and usually funny. Her first multi-day solo in the area of the HST grabbed me because I had hiked solo on- and off-trail in that same area about 40 years ago.

I value this BB because of its wealth of information, its wonderful characters among the regular contributors, and its usual (not always) friendliness and good humor. Laura has been a big part of what I value.

Sad. Sad. I live vicariously through Moosie's TRs. She gives me confidence--allowing me to feel OK about going it on my own too.
A huge loss. Giant bummer.

Weather changes, people change, ...change happens.

Here's hoping she'll be returning.

I think she will come back. Just give her some time.

Last Saturday, Laura and I went up Crystal Crag (10400'), near Mammoth -

We climbed the first pitch of the North Face (5.8) and then joined up with the North Arete (5.7) for the next two pitches.

It was my birthday, and as a surprise what should come out of her pack but a bottle of bubbly laugh

What a great friend ! Near the summit the Moose and Llama were sighted ..

We descended the west face and headed back to town where she treated me to a nice italian dinner, but not before a fond farewell to this peak.

We spent the next couple of days in the area, hiking and climbing various stuff. I'm sure some of you know where this is ..

Her many friends know where to find her.

Close .. Iceberg Lake. Here's Lake Ediza -

The water in Iceberg was very clear ..

Cecile Lake -

Minaret Lake -

My understanding is that the Ritter range is the remains of an ancient volcano, older than the Sierra itself.

Wow, how did we miss you? We went Agnew Meadows - Olaine - Ediza - Iceberg - Cecile - Minarets 9/9-9/12! And I even told my brother to keep his eye peeled for an orange Moose!

If you talk to her, tell her hikingforhope is STILL GOING. Last year, cancer spot from lungs disappeared with no toxic chemos. This year, two cancer lesions just under 2 cm disappeared in 2.5 mo with no toxic chemos. Think Grandma Whitney was right? I sure think there's something to them thar mountains!
