Sorry but I have some more questions.
First how is the pest situation at the Portal ie, mosquito, marmots etc...? And is there still a bear problem?
Second the water source at switch back #23, are water bottles easily filled or should I just fill up at Trail Camp?

Once again TIA!

Not sure about the mosquito's, but bears are always a problem. No problem with marmots.

I think its easier to fill up at the stream flowing into the trail camp pond. Its a good place to top off water and have a snack before starting the switchbacks.

The spring at the switchbacks can freeze overnight. So, if you are headed up before sunrise, you may want to fill up at Trail Camp to be sure of having water.
