My son and I are planning to finish our thru hike of the JMT the day after Labor day @ Whitney Portal. Would like to share the cost of a shuttle if anyone else is heading North.

Are you aware that there is bus service between Lone Pine and Reno or Yosemite. Look up the section titled "Using bus/train/shuttle service" in the Orientation Notes on the left.

The bus from Mammoth to Yosemite only runs on the weekends after Labor Day. I guess our best bet is getting from the Portal down to Lone Pine, spend the night, then catch the am bus to Mammoth.
From Mammoth pay a shuttle service into Yosemite.

You can always try hitchhiking, but I am also finishing the JMT around that time, but could be a day or 2 earlier.
