Did a search of the "Horseshoe" topic and didn't find exactly what I needed. So...just a couple of questions...

1) Is a permit required to day hike out of Horseshoe Meadows to the Cottonwood lakes/New Army Pass area?

2) Is a reservation required for the trailhead campground at Horseshoe Meadows?

Planning on heading up from So Cal for a little day hike in the next couple of weeks.

Any help is most appreciated!

SCTF,
You do not need a permit for dayhikes out of the HM area. you may be able to reserve campsites in the walk in or the equestian campgrounds on recreation.gov

Anyone know if you pick-up campfire permits at the campground or if they need to be picked-up at the ranger station in Lone Pine?

Thanks!

No fires above 10K. No permit needed if you are using a fire-pit in a campground.
