Just in case anyone's looking for a couple of nice, shorter hikes to acclimate, Friends of the Inyo is leading couple of good treks this weekend:
Saturday 8/14: Robinson Lake--about three miles with almost 1K of elevation gain to this new addition to the John Muir Wilderness. Meet at the Onion Valley Trailhead parking area at 9, or at Dehy Park in Independence at 8:30 if you want to carpool.
Sunday, 8/15: Blanco Mountain--low mileage, fairly high altitude peak walk with great views in the new White Mountains Wilderness. Meet at the parking area at the 395/168 junction at 8am.
We're also doing a volunteer trail day up in Mammoth at the Duck Pass Trailhead, 8:30a.m.
