Just minutes ago I spoke with someone at the Wilderness Permit Reservation Office in Bishop and released 2 permits from our crew of 6 for the North Fork route (Mountaineer's Route). Yes, these are two of the highly coveted overnight North Fork permits that get snapped up on the day they first become available.

Entry date: Sunday, August 16, 2009.

Unfortunately, just learned two guys from our group cannot go. So, jump on it!! And, you also might want to buy some Lotto tickets tonight, as this is your lucky day!

Hope someone was able to grab the two permits. Ranger John said that not too many people call in to cancel and open up these overnighters.
