Hi folks,
In 2 weeks I am heading out to climb Langley via the Cottonwods Lakes trail. I know I have to go up the Old Army Pass. Wanted to know the snow condition in that area and then on top of Langley.

thank you,

For gosh sakes!

http://www.whitneyportalstore.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/66026/page/1#Post66026

By then it may have melted down enough that it's not an issue.

And, it NOT Old Army Pass! It's Army Pass!

When New Amsterdam was founded, did Amsterdam have to be renamed Old Amsterdam?

No.

Be easy on the folks that are new to the forum.

This should be a welcoming place where there "are no stupid questions" that's how we learn.

So as a request from those of us that don't know, please be gentle when you deliver the knowledge. We hear you much better when it is whispered, not yelled.

Tiny;

wasn't talkin about them. Was talkin to them, asking them to be easy on the folks (such as myself) that are new to the forum & trying to learn.

sorry for the misunderstanding
Cheers

I think Richard's frustration was with the poster asking a question about Cottonwood Lakes area when the very same discussion was discussed in two earlier threads including one at the very top of the page when the thread was posted.

Exactly, Tom...

I'm not wound up, I'm busting up 'cause I just saw this...

I just like throwing exclamation points around. And complaining about people who won't use the search feature, or even look down the first page of threads.

I went up new army pass mid July and the last switchback was covered in snow. Within a few feet of easy ice climbing I was on top. I met several climbers on their way up Langley that came from army pass. They said they had to do a little boulder climbing around the snow but it was easy as well. The rest of the route is snow free. I hope I was helpful.
PS I grew up in Lone Pine
