It is that time of year again. Last year I packed out 5lbs of trash on my Mt Whitney hike (mostly wag bags)for Leave No Trace. I hope this year is not the same. I am always blown away that people in this day and age are still so careless with their trash. I'll be on the Mountain Sunday-Tuesday.

I saw two abondon wag bags yesterday - one at Iceberg Lake and one at Trail Camp. Lots of other trash scattered about at Trail Camp.

Amazing…I always thought they should make you leave a deposit and when you turn in your wag back you can get it back! COME ON PEOPLE PACK OUT YOUR TRASH!

the deposit idea, not bad. I'd pay it . . . but I'd rather find a few wag bags here and there than all the TP that's floating around under all the rocks down around guitar lake . . .

If you are going to take a dump in a wagbag, do the rest of us a favor and carry out your own chit!

I even found a wagbag on Friday in a little spring-fed stream above the tarn above Guitar Lake. Are we dealing with pro-giardiasis guerrillas or simple idiots?

If you can't pack out your own stuff, stop hiking and spend the day at Disneyland...they will gladly clean up after you.

I just purchased a heavy duty plastic bag for all those wag bags that I pick up each year....should cut down on the smell factor. Last year I picked up 16 wag bags.
