We'll be staying at Whitney Portal for five days and were wondering if there are showers (perhaps the 25 cent type) at the campground. I don't mind smelling, but the rest of you might

There is one shower behind the Portal Store you can rent.

The shower at the Portal Store cost three dollars. Use the warm water as long as you want. The shower was heaven for me after a day summiting via the Mountaineers Route on Sunday. When I got out of the shower Doug had my giant cheeseburger and beer waiting for me on the kitchen counter twenty feet away. Enjoyed the good food while sitting on the patio and socializing. Now that is what I call good living!
