Sorry if this has been asked before. I am scheduled to do a JMT thru-hike starting on the 4th from Yosemite. It should take me 11 days and I was wondering if it possible to park and leave a car at the portal for an extended period of time so that I have a ride home afterwards...cost? time limits? I have parked cars at the portal for a few days before on shorter trips (actually the people in my group owned the cars so I am not sure how they handled things), but am unsure about an extended one. Thanks!

I did the JMT last year and left my car there for 3 weeks. I parked below the parking lot, in the dirt, off the side of the road. I had no issues. Clean out your car of items that smell. We also left a trip plan and photo in the car visor in case they (officials) needed to find us.

Have fun, it was a great hike.

Scott
