Mt. Whitney Portal Store & Hostel Forums General Mt. Whitney Portal Store Message Board Trail Conditions - NAP, Guyot Pass, Guitar Lake

Does anyone have current information about the route from New Army Pass through Rock Creek, Guyot Pass, Crabtree Meadow, Guitar Lake? Planning on doing that route next week and looking for any intel that might be out there?? Thanks in advance, the insight from this board is invaluable!!

(I do have the proper Trail Crest exit permits, we had originally planned on going x-country the Sky Blue Lake area but the weather conditions make that route questionable)

Not sure about NAP but Cottonwood Pass is relatively snow free. We did this hike last year and had a great time. Take your time in the Rock Creek area, it's absolutely beautiful. Your last night at Upper Crabtree or Guitar Lake will be awfully cold so be prepared. Also, if you have time, be sure and check out Hitchcock Lakes. It's an easy day hike from Guitar Lake if you planning on spending the night there. We spend out last night in Big whitney Meadow and saw more deer ( 7) than people ( 2 ) .

I was at Horseshoe Meadow last Saturday. Looked like a pretty good snow field near Cottonwood Pass. There were only 5 cars in the Pass parking lot; many more on the Lakes side.
