After spending a full day of climbing with the elusive CA Moose and another friend, we bade farewell to Laura around 8:30 last night as she sailed off into the twilight bound for her next adventure--a dayhike of Thunderbolt with Kurt Wedberg. The plan was to start hiking at 2:30 am. 50% chance of rain/snow up high. Uhhhh... I could just barely keep myself awake driving back to LA! Good luck Laura! I'm looking forward to the photos.

Well YEAH....Duh that is a given.
Now Kurt and Laura climbing together, talk about your "Dream Team". I am still trying to decide if either of those two are human or some variation of cyborgs.

Ok Gentlemen... we're talking about someone who "stretches her legs" to Lone Pine Lake at a slow gallop to "work out the kinks" from the previous days climbs.

I do believe that Moosie is human... she just has some bionic parts worked in for the extra oomph...

Kurt on the other hand... I don't have enough experience hiking with to make a call on that one wink

Crazy? Of course. It's part of my charm.

But when he knocked on my window at 0300, I looked at him and said, "I just don't think I can do this." It wasn't hard for either of us to back off of this one, and the puffers hanging over the Crest right now make me think we made the right decision anyway.

Thanks for the awesome day, Steve! I had a blast (even though my ego got SPANKED).

Kurt is not crazy. He is the consummate pro, always safe and having a depth of knowledge that hard's to fathom until you've been up some remote high place on the globe with him and realize that he's the best guide on that remote place far from the Sierra.

However, if by "crazy" you mean capable of doing superhuman stuff - well even though Kurt can climb faster than a speeding bullet with an 80 pound pack I still haven't yet seen him fly.

I, on the other hand, am quite confident I would have flown many times AND in excellent form, albeit straight down, were it not for Kurt.

More imporantly, he can hike SLOW and lead a group of all abilities. I joined him and a few others on a hike last year and he was a total pro. Never made anyone feel like they were holding the group up. Took real good care of all his guests.

Of course Moosie is the same way (though she did leave me behind on the Iron Mountain hike) :),,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,DUG

OMG, T, take a deep breath. Steve is making a funny. Why is everyone so bloody wound up around here these days?

And with that, I guess it's ok for me to be crazy (or called such), but not Kurt? Please, people. LIGHTEN UP!!!

Except when he sprinted up that last section of the trail to the summit in a mad attempt to catch the SAR helicopter... left us all eating his dust... LOL

Tourbillion -- You must have missed the obvious part about Kurt being "crazy" for not bringing Laura her coffee at 3:00 a.m.

Aside from that, this has been one of the funniest threads I have read in a while. Thanks for the great laugh, all.

Thanks Chris,
Twisted minds unite.I am still convinced you are Erma Bombeck re-incarnated.
I am not sure what it going to take to get Laura to respond to one of my barbs directed at her.I may have to lower myself to the dreaded suck up and start being "nice".Heck I may have to resort to gifts of single malt scotch or something drastic.

Well Sir, you do say the most flattering things. wink

Nice to Moosie? Careful Doc... she might not know how to react to that! The drastic step of gifts of single malt scotch might work though...
